As a child, Lori Anne Heckbert watched images emerge on family Polaroids and has loved, admired and been inspired by photography ever since. Her visual nature showed up earliest in picturesque speech. Her love for photography grew during extended travels in Europe (1997), China (2006) and South East Asia (2012), where she improved her composition skills and learned to recognize and develop her own point of view. But it was on a photography day-tour in Bali in mid-2012 when she decided to pursue her passion for photography in earnest. Lori Anne then continued to nurture her inspiration and confidence though studying photography formally as well as attending a workshop with an award-winning Canadian photographer.
Driven by a deeper understanding of the art and a desire to create images capturing the timeless elegance and grace even a fleeting moment reveals when we are truly present in it, Lori Anne travelled to Morocco, Ethiopia, South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Turkey in 2013, experimenting with techniques, learning from more experienced photographers, connecting emotionally with her subjects and evolving as an artist. She has distilled her experiences in these places into this first portfolio of selected images from her Africa travels in 2013. Her images and writing have been published by Wanderlust Magazine of the UK.
In addition to her photography, Lori Anne is also a writer and educator. With a background in law and business, she teaches advanced negotiations skills through her workshop-based training and coaching business TrustBuilder Negotiations.
Lori Anne lives in Toronto, Canada.
